ai-job-search on Mac — setup kit for non-programmers
ai-job-search is a popular open-source project that turns your profile into tailored CVs and cover letters with Claude Code. It is free, but setting it up means using Terminal and installing five tools. This kit walks you through every step.

What you get
- A step-by-step guide in three formats: a web page (best for copying commands), a printable PDF and a plain list of commands.
- Every command in order, with what you should see after each one.
- Warnings for the places where we got stuck during our own testing, for example an installer that shows no progress for several minutes, and a command that does not work until you change one setting.
- A privacy checklist, so your copy of the project and your profile are not published on GitHub.
- A troubleshooting table and instructions to remove everything later.
Before you buy
- You need a paid Claude plan (Pro or Max) or an Anthropic Console account. ai-job-search runs inside Claude Code, and the free Claude plan does not include Claude Code.
- Mac only, macOS 13 or newer. This kit does not cover Windows or Linux.
- Tested on macOS 26.5 (Apple silicon) using the ai-job-search version downloaded on October 23, 2026 (release v1.7.3 plus later updates) and Claude Code 2.1.309. We tested every command in the guide from start to finish on a fresh Mac user account. Newer versions may look slightly different.
- While you use Claude Code, what you work on is sent to Anthropic to generate answers, as with any Claude conversation.
- The project's built-in job boards are mostly Danish. You can still paste any job posting yourself.
Is this official?
No. Setwise Kits is independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by the ai-job-search project or Anthropic. The project and its own documentation are free on GitHub. This kit is for people who want a simpler, tested path.
